He lost the title he held for two years
Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named “Best Airport in the World” for a record 12th time.
The airport regained the title in the “World Airport Awards 2023” announced yesterday by the air transport research company “Skytrax”.
Changi Airport had previously won first place in the annual Skytrax rankings for 8 consecutive years from 2013 to 2020, but it came behind Hamad International Airport in Doha and Haneda Airport in Tokyo over the past two years.
The classification surveyed the opinions of international travelers representing more than 100 nationalities, according to CNBC, and Al Arabiya.net reviewed it.
Customers rated airports on many factors, including shopping and check-in, arrivals, transfers, security, and immigration.
Hamad International Airport in Doha came in second place, followed by Haneda Airport in Tokyo in third place, and Incheon International Airport in fourth place. Japan also had two of the top ten airports this year, with Narita International Airport ranked ninth.
The best airport staff
The rest of the ranking of other major airports came: Paris (fifth), Istanbul (sixth), Munich (seventh) and Zurich (eighth).
All of the airports on last year’s top 10 list have reappeared with the exception of Osaka’s Kansai International Airport, which has been replaced by Spain’s Madrid-Barajas Airport (10th).
The Skytrax survey also ranked airports on other scales. Seoul’s Incheon International Airport was named “World’s Best Airport Staff” while China’s Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport was named “World’s Best Developed Airport”.

Changi Airport has now won more than 660 “Best Airport” awards since it opened in 1981. The airport plans to expand Terminal 2 capacity by 5 million passengers per year and has begun upgrade work that is scheduled for completion by 2024.
Across its four terminals, Changi Airport features a gym, showers, nap areas, a 16-meter-high children’s play structure and a swimming pool overlooking the runway.
Terminal 1 is also directly linked to the 10-storey Jewel Changi Airport retail complex, which includes 7 themed gardens, a forest valley with over 2,000 trees and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
