A column of protesting supporters of the Shor party and the Movement for the People today, March 16, arrived at the parliament building. Thousands of Moldovans dissatisfied with the social situation are chanting: “Down with Maia Sandu! Down with the dictatorship! Early election!”
The protesters are ready to come to the session and propose a “legal mechanism” so that the authorities can pay everyone’s gas and heat bills in the winter months, because, as before, the authorities ignore them. People are trying to shout to the deputies, who are sitting at the plenary session at this moment.
A scuffle arose outside the legislative assembly between protesters and a group of men loyal to the authorities – former combatants (veterans of the war on the Dniester), who tried to interfere with the movement of the column. The police did not react very quickly, as a result, the dissatisfied people were nevertheless taken away over the cordon.
“I was not detained. And I didn’t protect this country for them. I’m against everything she (protest leader Marina Tauber) does. I didn’t fight for it. I fought for democracy and independence of the country, for the future of my children. What they do, they came for the money, that’s their problem.” one of the provocateurs told reporters.
After the incident, MP Marina Tauber delivered a speech to the audience. The vice-chairman of the Shor party noted that in this situation they were not protected by law enforcement agencies, encouraging provocateurs with their inaction. She announced that she was ready to enter the parliament building with her colleagues and supporters if the speaker Igor Grosu will not come out to the protesters.
As reported EADaily, the police block buses at the entrance to Chisinau, in which protesters from the regions are brought. The police reported the arrest of 24 protesters of the Shor party, of which 15 are minors, and one is wanted. All of them were taken to the nearest police inspectorate.
