Amazing! This Vegetable Farmer Achieves an Income of IDR 1.3 Billion Monthly

Profession farmer often underestimated, but this man has proven he can be successful growing and selling vegetables. Within a month he could even earn IDR 1.3 billion! Here’s the story.

Currently, many young people prefer to work in private companies or start-ups because they are considered cool and have a promising income. Conversely, not many want to become farmers because this profession is considered difficult and tiring.

That assumption may be true, but when it is successful, income farmer It turns out that it can far exceed the salary of the top officials in the company. This is what happened to a 28-year-old man from Malaysia, Chung Chia Khang.

Collect Says (15/3), Chung revealed that he can earn RM 400,000 or around IDR 1.3 billion per month from his profession as a farmer. It all started 7 years ago when he was cultivating land in Lojing Highlands, Kelantan.

According to Cosmos, Chung initially made use of the unused area in his backyard until he was able to expand it to 12 hectares. If compared, the size of the agricultural land is now almost 16 times the size of a football field.

“Initially I cultivated 1,000 polybags of plants around my house in Kampung Keroh, Kuala Krai. Now I work on more than 100,000 plants consisting of several varieties of vegetables and fruits, including cabbage, corn, tomatoes, celery, leeks, turnips, long beans and cantaloupe melons,” he said.

The harvest will be sent by Chung to wholesalers in Kampung Raja, Cameron Highlands before being exported to Singapore. Chung says he can harvest almost a ton of cabbage every day, the weight of a European bison or African buffalo, from the 40,000 cabbage plants he cultivates.

If combined with other vegetables, the farm can produce around 40 to 70 tons of crops per month. “Thanks to my persistence and love for agriculture, I got decent results and was able to earn RM 400,000 or around Rp 1.3 billion per month,” he said.

He then founded a company called Lojing Farmers last year. Chung attributes his success to rising vegetable prices, which are up more than 50% compared to a year or two ago, reports Kosmo.

Chung said vegetables grown using the fertigation method have the potential to be commercialized and provide good profits, including for export abroad.

Regarding his career, Chung said his interest in agriculture arose after attending an agricultural course organized by the Rubber Industry Smallholder Development Authority (RISDA). Interestingly, it was his mother who put him in the program.

After that, he received assistance of RM 10,000 (Rp 34.4 million) from RISDA’s Additional Economic Activities program to develop agricultural areas. Until finally Chung is at the point of success now.

Before Chung, story farmer success is also in Lembang, Bandung. The figure of Ulus Pirmawan became a topic of conversation because he was a successful farmer of cabbage, broccoli, beans, lettuce and other vegetables.

Ulus even received a world-class award in 2014 in Singapore. “In 2014, 2015, 2016 there were awards in Singapore for baby chickpea products,” explained Ulus. It produces everything organically.
