Libreville, Wednesday, March 15, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The President of the Constitutional Court and agent of Gabon at the International Court of Justice went to report last Monday on the progress of this dispute with Equatorial Guinea.
In reaction to the approach of Equatorial Guinea with which it has been in a legal tussle since March 5, 2021 regarding the island of Mbanie, Gabon filed on March 6 the memorandum in rejoinder at the registries of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Following this statement to the jurisdictional body of the United Nations (UN), Marie-Madeleine Mborantsuo, President of the Constitutional Court and agent of Gabon in this trial, went to take stock last Monday with President Ali Bongo Ondimba. “We have just returned (…) from the International Court of Justice where we went to file at the registry of this high court, the rejoinder brief of the Gabonese Republic in the context of the border dispute between Equatorial Guinea and the Gabonese Republic,” said she indicated at the end of the hearing.
After the written procedure, the oral phase which will take place thereafter will relate to the production and the filing at the clerks of the ICJ of all the documents of the parties in conflict. To be continued…
