“Il Trittico” Opera Evening by Puccini Presented by State Opera.

Hamburg (dpa/lno) – Giacomo Puccini’s “Il Trittico” premiered at the Hamburg State Opera today – due to warning strikes in the public sector three days later than planned. Puccini combined three short operas for this “triptych”: “Il tabarro” is about deadly jealousy, while in “Suor Angelica” a noble nun mourns for her child and in “Gianni Schicchi” a number of inheritance hunters try to trick each other. The soprano Elena Guseva and the baritone Roberto Frontali can be seen in the leading roles. Axel Ranisch is directing, with Giampaolo Bisanti conducting the Philharmonic State Orchestra.
