Sunderland fans were shocked when they saw Ousmane Dembele in the stands during the club’s match against Sheffield United. The FC Barcelona star was spotted watching the game alongside president Kyril Louis-Dreyfus.
It was a very strange image for all football fans and especially those of Sunderland, Dembélé who exchanged the warmth of Barcelona for the cold of Sunderland for a while. The French attacker was spotted by Sky Sports cameras in the stands of the Stadium of Light during the 1-2 loss to Sheffield United. Many supporters hoped for a dream transfer, but his visit had a different reason.
From previous research the Guardian it has emerged that Dembélé, like the Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, is a good friend of the chairman of Sunderland. Louis-Dreyfus, 25, is a French businessman who took over the club in 2020. So Dembele’s visit was to see how his old friend was doing.
