National team manager Ståle Solbakken has already shared concerns about his defenders, and they did not decrease when centre-back Kristoffer Ajer (24) was not in the Brentford squad on Wednesday.
The Norwegian was missing due to injury, and as far as VG knows, everything indicates that the 24-year-old will have to miss the two international matches that start the EC qualification: Away against Spain (March 25) and away against Georgia ( 28 March).
Brentford’s Danish manager Thomas Frank stated at his own press conference after Wednesday’s league match away to Southampton that it is a calf injury.
– He got it in training. It is doubtful whether he will make it to the qualifying matches (for Norway), reports Frank after another one Brentford win in the Premier League – this time 2-0 away against Mohamed Elyounoussi and Southampton.
The national team’s press officer Morten Morisbak Skjønsberg did not respond to VG’s inquiry on Wednesday evening.
National team manager Ståle Solbakken received several questions about playing time among both the goalkeepers and the defense when he presented the squad on Tuesday, and said, among other things, the following:
– There are some positions where there is cause for concern. Especially at the back of the pitch and some edge positions – where our players have had too little playing time. We have to have two thoughts in our heads here, because we want extra coverage on this, commented Solbakken.
