One person wounded in a shooting on an MTA bus

Another shooting inside an MTA bus causes panic among users like Kevin Rojas, who depend on this important means of transportation in the city.

-Do you feel safe when you get on the bus every day to go to study and work?

“Yes a little. Because there are things that happen on the trains and on the buses already and we can’t do anything,” Kevin said.

According to police, a 25-year-old man was shot in the buttocks after an argument with another man and a woman, while other passengers looked on in astonishment.

-When you leave the house, well, you don’t expect anything bad to happen to you, right?

“No, no,” Kevin said.

The shooting occurred on a B44 bus at approximately 10:20 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Empire Boulevard and Rogers Avenue in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn.

“It scares me because imagine, it’s the only means of transportation here and it’s scary,” said Luis Muruzumbay, a worker in the area.

The gunshot wound to the buttocks was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to recover. The reason for the altercation is unknown, but for Luis Muruzumbay, nothing justifies the incident.

“Because of the wrong people, a stray bullet or something, then it can cost you your life,” added Luis.

After the shooting both suspects fled the scene on foot. Detectives are on the trail of the couple.

The police want to find the suspects and ask for the collaboration of the public with information, calling confidentially as usual at 1-888-57-PISTA.
