Two individuals indicted for the murder of a night establishment manager in Corsica.

Two men were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention in the investigation into the assassination in 2020 of a manager of a night establishment, whose body had been found in Centuri (Haute-Corse), a-t- we learned on Wednesday from the prosecution of the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Marseille.

“These two men in their thirties have been indicted for murder in an organized gang and participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing a crime,” said the Jirs prosecution.

In total, nine people had been placed in police custody and several others heard in free hearing as part of this investigation, according to the same source, who specified that “for the time being, no follow-up (had been) retained against the other persons heard”.

The body buried under leaves

The decomposing body of Damien Barchilon, 33, was discovered on October 5, 2020 in Centuri when he had been reported missing since September 13.

Due to the “circumstances of its discovery”, the criminal track had quickly been privileged, had then specified the public prosecutor of Bastia Arnaud Viornery, before divesting itself in favor of the Jirs de Marseille, competent in serious organized crime. .

The body, discovered by a hunter, was in “advanced state of decomposition and buried under leaves” on the wild heights of the village of 220 inhabitants, a source familiar with the matter told AFP.

Damien Barchilon, a 33-year-old night establishment manager, was last seen on September 9 in Tomino, a village near Centuri in Cap Corse.

On September 10, the young man’s car was found by the side of the road in Meria, a 15-minute drive from Tomino. The ignition keys were still on the dashboard.
