How well do you remember the popular Walt Disney cartoons?
Probably, there is not a single child in the world who has never watched cartoons created by Walt Disney. The great cartoonist was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago. Contrary to popular belief, the most recognizable Disney character – Mickey Mouse – was not created personally by Walt, but by his partner, also a cartoonist Ub Iwerks. It was he who worked on the creation of the first cartoons about a charming little mouse. Mickey Mouse first appeared on screen in 1928. For nineteen years, Walt Disney gave his voice to the legendary character, and then, when he had problems with his throat, he transferred this honorary role to actor Jimmy McDonald. The mouse character did not immediately receive its name. Initially, Walt Disney planned to name the eared hero Mortimer Mouse, but the cartoonist’s wife did not like this name. She thought it sounded too pretentious. In the end, it was decided to give the mouse a simple, mischievous and memorable name, Mickey.
