In response to the failure of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), the US Federal Reserve Board (FRB) tightened capital and liquidity requirements for medium-sized banks and strengthened annual bank stress tests (prudential examination). Plans under consideration could target financial institutions with assets of $100 billion to $250 billion. That would extend coverage of restrictions that currently apply only to Wall Street’s larger financial institutions.
