Willem Engel, former leader of the Virus Truth action group, has also lost his last lawsuit against Belgian virologist Marc Van Ranst. Van Ranst says he is happy “that this annoying saga is over”.
Engel and Van Ranst were constantly at odds via Twitter during the corona pandemic. Corona skeptic Engel then went to court because he accused the virologist of slander and libel. Among other things, Van Ranst called him a “virus denier”.
Van Ranst was always right by the Belgian court. The latest case went before the court on Tuesday and was also won by Van Ranst. “5-0”, the outspoken professor, opinion maker and government adviser concludes with satisfaction. “I’m glad this tedious saga is over.”
The court previously obliged Engel to pay compensation to Van Ranst because he took it to court too frivolously. The court canceled that compensation.
Engel says he will refrain from further litigation against Van Ranst, although he has said this several times before. The foreman of the now defunct Virus Truth says he has no confidence in the judiciary.
