The creation of a vessel on the potter’s wheel is a special experience. This course teaches the basics of turning on the wheel. All participants are taught the manual techniques and necessary tricks, taking into account their respective previous experience and knowledge. Pressure and counter-pressure create forms that fascinate with the liveliness of the moment. Electric potter’s wheels are available to all participants. It can be practiced to your heart’s content; a little patience is required and will be rewarded. In addition to the technique of shooting, the focus is on the material clay in its diversity and its possibilities, and individual questions are answered.
In all courses in the areas of ceramics, porcelain and designing with clay, knowledge of clay as a material is conveyed and practiced, implemented and checked by the course instructor. You will learn the correct execution of various techniques, knowledge of the material, its nature and origin. The handling of clay as a plastic material, but also as a sustainable working material up to the commodity is conveyed. You will be instructed in theory in handling and using the material and the necessary tools up to the turntable (only in the corresponding courses). What you have learned is implemented in your own projects under the guidance of the lecturers. Our teachers are professional ceramists or, as studied artists, have been working with clay for years.
