IO Interactive’s Hitman game didn’t get off to the best start. When Hitman: Absolution was seen as a bit of a flop, the studio decided to reboot the series with the trilogy now known as Hitman World of Assassination.
According to an interview with Eurogamer IO Interactive labeled the trilogy as such to effectively shelve Hitman for the time being. “Right now a big, big new Hitman game: it’s on a bit of a hiatus,” said IO Interactive chief creative officer and co-owner Christian Elverdam.
– We are building a new agent fantasy [James Bond] which also takes up a lot of our time. But it’s clear we’re coming back to beloved Agent 47. He’s still very much at the heart of this company.
So it’s a good thing Hitman 3 recently ditched its massive Freelancer mode, as we won’t be getting any more Agent 47 for quite some time.
