Disappearance of Leslie and Kévin: at the white march, the father of the young man demands that justice be done

Sunday March 12, eight days after the discovery of the bodies of Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kévin Trompat, the relatives of the latter organized a white march in Niort, in Deux-Sèvres. About 300 people took part in this tribute. The family of the young woman did not wish to be associated with this process.

The time is now for meditation in the case of the disappearance of Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kévin Trompat. A week after the discovery of their bodies in Charente-Maritime, Guy Trompat, the father of the young man, wanted to organize a white march in the streets of Niort, to “the memory of [son] son, and the little one.”

I want justice done. It’s insurmountable, they destroyed lives, they destroyed my life. I cannot live without my son.

At his side, his lawyer, Marie-Noëlle Mison, completed his remarks: “Today is a manifestation, really, of peace, of tranquility, it must take place in the greatest serenity, even if deep down inside, Mr. Trompat is driven by immense grief.”

During the white march, Kévin’s relatives stopped on a footbridge which spans the Sèvre. They then threw flowers into the stream, at the exact spot where the young man liked to fish.

In the procession of about 300 people, relatives and friends of the family were there. To support Kevin’s father, the young man’s boxing trainer, Michel Acheghane, spoke. “It’s really a big shock” for him : “He was a good boxer, he was a disciplined, correct person, I don’t understand what could have happened, I don’t know what gear he could have fallen into to get there.”

For three months, many inhabitants of Deux-Sèvres have lived to the rhythm of the investigation into the disappearance of Leslie and Kévin. It was therefore natural for some of them to join the march, even if they did not know them, in order to support Kevin’s family: “I who lost a child, I know what it is, so I’m here to support them too”, says one of them. Further on, a young man adds: “It’s shocking because it’s young people our age, we think it can happen to anyone.”

At the end of the march, balloons and magic lanterns were released. The roses raised during the gathering must be collected to be placed in Kevin’s coffin. His funeral will take place on March 16, at the Saint-Hilaire church in Niort.
