Workers have started emptying the house and preparing the building for demolition. After the demolition, a grass area will be created.
“After more than 25 years, the wishes of many people are being granted and the house is being demolished. We had contact with the parents of the victims last week. It is the end of a sad and heavy chapter of our region,” says the mayor of Lobbes Lucien Bauduin (PS).
Another house belonging to Dutroux in Marcinelle in Charleroi was demolished last year. There will be a memorial garden for the victims.
