A body, which could not immediately be identified, was found overnight from Sunday to Monday in the trunk of a burnt-out car in the 14e district of Marseille, we learned from concordant sources.
“The marine firefighters intervened for a car fire in a parking lot and, when they extinguished the fire, they found a charred body in the trunk of the vehicle”, specified the battalion of marine firefighters of Marseille.
The prosecutor of Marseille Dominique Laurens confirmed the discovery of the body in the city of Busserine, one of these many cities of the popular districts of the north of Marseilles prey to drug trafficking.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the judicial police.
The “Marseille barbecue” method
Such facts evoke the method sometimes nicknamed by the investigators “Marseille barbecue”, intended both to mark the spirits and to erase the traces of the criminals. The last similar case dates back to June 2022, with the discovery of a charred body in the trunk of a burning car in Rove, a town bordering Marseille, north of the city.
The year 2022 was particularly deadly in Marseille in terms of settling scores linked to drug trafficking, with 33 shot dead and three stabbed, according to an AFP count.
If a link were proven between this new death and this trafficking, it would be the seventh drug-related homicide committed in 2023 in Marseille.
