Cinema – Anima – My Father’s Clothes

When the father was in a coma, the mother gave her daughters a box containing his “personal belongings”. In it: high heels, wig and make-up.

Little Uli grew up in Upper Bavaria as a child of a “completely normal family”. Nobody knew about his father’s excursions to Munich – except his wife and his diaries. There he speaks openly about what drove him to “give freedom to his soul” in women’s clothing.

With ‘Anima…’, Uli Decker tells her own story and that of her father in an intimate and light-hearted documentary that is touching and humorous at the same time. The conversation that never happened takes place between the father’s diary entries and the daughter’s serious self-questioning about her gender role.
