CAN U20: best player, best scorer… Senegal takes all the awards!

Winner of the CAN U20 this Saturday in the final against Gambia (2-0), Senegal took all the individual trophies that were at stake.

Just a few weeks after finishing among the CHAN’s top three players and after winning this tournament with Senegal, midfielder Lamine Camara was again honored by being crowned best player of this CAN! At only 19 years old, the FC Metz rookie confirmed his immense potential throughout the competition, particularly in the attacking register, with a double scored in the semi-finals against Tunisia (3-0).

But the king of scorers is undoubtedly his friend Pape Demba Diop. With a free electron profile somewhat reminiscent of that of Ghanaian Mohammed Kudus at Ajax Amsterdam, the young talent from Zulte-Waregem scored 5 goals and logically finished top scorer. His hat-trick in 17 minutes against the Egyptian host in the group stage (3-0) will have particularly marked the spirits, as will his little gem marked against Tunisia.

No goals conceded

While his friend Souleymane Faye, scorer and decisive passer against the Gambians, was logically voted best player in the final, another Senegalese was also acclaimed: Landing Badji. Having managed to keep his clean sheet throughout the tournament, the Lionceau was unsurprisingly named the best goalkeeper of the competition. In the middle of this raid, perfectly logical as Senegal flew over the competition, only Nigeria manages to make a small place for itself. The Flying Eagles, who have finished 3rd in the tournament taking the best of Tunisia on Friday (4-0), won the fair play prize.
