The brother of a thief beaten by Cuban truckers in Medley speaks

The brother of Exon González Cáceres, a 24-year-old who was arrested after attempting to rob a truck at a Medley, Florida, gas station a few days agodecided to break the silence and demonstrate against the way in which he was arrested.

It is necessary to remember that a couple of Cuban truckers managed to get the subject out of the vehicle and began to beat him before immobilizing him and calling the police, something that this person considered an abuse.

“They took him, took him out of the truck, tied him up and beat him until he was covered in blood, what you two did is not done, you don’t have to beat him, they should have called the police, that was abuse.” , said the man identified as William in a video posted on social networks and shared by the local outlet America TeVe.

Now, his brother faces various charges, including theft of a vehicle, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

William, who is also a trucker, claimed that his brother acted the way he did because of a mental problem.

“My family has been going through this problem for many years, because he has mental problems, one who is sane does not try to steal a truck, nor did he know how to drive it,” he added in the video.

The man now wants to know the identity of the two Cuban truckers who hit his brother. Likewise, he stated that he wishes to obtain access to the police report of his arrest.

“Not even the police can give anyone firewood, they can’t hit people, and even less tied to the floor, you two are abusers,” he insisted.

The relative of the detainee acknowledged that what his brother did was wrong, but reaffirmed that the way in which he was detained by the Cubans, and later by the police, was not adequate either.

“I hope he never comes out, leave him there, I know he’s a criminal, but they don’t have to hit him,” he said.

The incident began when the two Cuban truckers stopped to fill up on gasoline. A person entered the premises and told them that his driver was moving the truck in an unsafe manner, which alerted the pair, since there must have been no one in the unit.

After being arrested this week, it was learned that González Cáceres had a long criminal record, with charges such as possession of firearms and illegal substances in his file.

According to Medley police spokesman Luis Rivera, the robber was taken into custody and taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
