Rookie David Roddy set a career-high 24 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, and the Memphis Grizzlies rallied for a 112-108 victory over the struggling Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
Roddy made 7 of 8 shots in the fourth quarter, including 3 of 4 3-pointers. Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 25 points, while Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 14.
Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Mvericks with 23 points, while Jaden Hardy finished with 22. Josh Green added 21 points for Dallas.
Two of the biggest stars in the NBA, Luka Doncic of Dallas and Ja Morant of Memphis, were absent from the game. Doncic is complaining of a left thigh strain while Morant is away from the Grizzlies, a week after posting a video in which he appeared to show a firearm inside a strip club in the Denver metropolitan area.
This left out of the commitment the two best scorers of the teams that occupy the first two places in the Western Conference. And shortly after the match began, Dallas also lost Kyrie Irving, due to a sore right foot.
