“”Hamlet” is a work that, as generations change, does not lose its relevance and is always able to reveal something true and important about today,” he says, explaining the choice of the play.
This is already the third mono-performance created by Е. Wilson, in partnership with his son Robert, a playwright. In March, it starts a tour of Latvian schools.
In the production, Shakespeare’s large-scale stage work is transferred to the performance of one actor, as it allows the audience to be involved in a conversation about theater, life, history and relationships, according to its creators.
The premiere took place in the hall of the Liepāja Music, Art and Design High School, Alejas Street 18.
As Ivonda Vilsone, representative of the Cultural Development Society “Tapala lapa”, explained, three years ago, thanks to the students of this school, the logo of the society was created, its author is Reinis Pelle Karlsons.
“As a thank you to the school and as a joint collaboration, we played Rudolph Blaumanis’ “Lost Son” here, three years have passed, Blaumanis’ “Lost Son” has toured Latvia, and currently 177 performances have been performed. There is a new show again, a new time, and this time it is Shakespeare and Robert Wilson’s Hamlet.”
This mono-performance will also go to schoolchildren all over Latvia, the target audience is high school students, she says.
Those who have been to other mono performances of the association “Tapala lapa” already know what to expect. In the special genre, the viewer becomes a partner in the actor’s game.
