The Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA) has been writing a new chapter in its long history in recent months. Two events, which occurred in quick succession in December 2022, hastened the time of a change in dimension and role for the main port interface in Côte d’Ivoire, with each time as the main actor the French operator Bolloré Africa Logistics (BAL). Associated with its friend APM Terminals at 49%, the African brand of the Bolloré Transport & Logistics (BTL) group first inaugurated, on December 2, with great fanfare and in the presence of Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, the Ivorian vice-presidentthe second container terminal in Abidjan. Baptized Côte d’Ivoire Terminal (CIT), this brand new equipment with an area of 38 hectares reclaimed from the lagoon propels the PAA “into another dimension”, according to the expression used by Hien Yacouba Sié, its director-general.
