Former NATO General Petr Pavel took the presidential oath on Thursday and thus officially became the country’s president for the next five years.
Czech President Petr Pavel will visit Ukraine in April, said the press secretary of the Czech President, Marketa Rekhakova, following a conversation between Pavel and President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ceske Noviny reports.
According to Rekhakova, Zelensky asked for a phone call and was interested in having it as soon as possible after the inauguration on Thursday. He wanted to congratulate Pavel on taking office.
“We discussed a possible visit of President Pavlo to Ukraine and agreed that it would take place in April. It was also about the support of Ukraine from the Czech Republic in the coming months,” Rekhakova added.
Recall that Zelensky also reported on a telephone conversation today on Twitter, according to which the presidents also discussed Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and agreed on further cooperation.
