World Cup gloves sold at auction; Emiliano Martinez’s donation to the Cancer Hospital

Buenos Aires – Goal keeper Emiliano Martinez auctioned gloves used in World Cup matches for Argentina. The glove used in the penalty shootout against France in the finals was worth $45,000. The Argentine star auctioned the glove to help a hospital that provides cancer treatment for children.

The auction process was conducted online last Friday. Before the auction, the Argentine star had signed the glove. The glove was auctioned for around INR 36.8 lakhs. The entire amount will be used for the operations of the hospital. Emiliano Martinez is the goalkeeper of Aston Villa in the English Premier League.

Martinez participated in the auction via an online link from his home in England. The money was transferred to Garahan Hospital, one of the main hospitals treating children in Argentina. “The glove was important to him because he couldn’t always play in the World Cup final. But if it helps a child more than hanging it on the wall at home, that’s a great thing.” – Martinez responded.

Emiliano Martinez also won the best goalkeeper award in the FIFA World Cup. In the World Cup final, Argentina won the title by defeating France after a long fight until the penalty shootout. Emiliano also won the recently announced FIFA The Best Goalkeeper award.
