The 2023 Call for the Itaipu Scholarship Program had 85% participation in the Basic Competencies Test that was administered this Saturday, March 11, at 12 venues located in 10 departments of the country.
The results of the evaluation are expected to be published on Monday, March 13, and before that the response matrix will be published on the institutional website.
In the Central department, an important turnout was observed on the campus of the National University of Asunción and at the Center for Technological Innovation (CITEC), Luque; where young people came in large numbers for the evaluation, more than 4,500. In the other venues there was also good participation of young people in the exam.
This year, the Binacional makes available to Paraguayan youth a total of 2,000 university degree scholarships (for public and private universities) and 500 for technical training.
The minimum performance level required of applicants in the Basic Competences Test (Spanish Language and Mathematics) is 60%, calculated on the maximum score registered, to move on to the socioeconomic status weighting stage. Both the preparation, the application and the correction of the exam were entrusted to the FIUNA academic team on this occasion.
As part of its socio-environmental responsibility policy, from 2006 (the year the Scholarship Program was established) to 2022, Itaipu awarded a total of 22,338 university scholarships. Currently, there are 7,385 active scholarship holders, of which 3,655 are studying at national universities and 3,730 at private universities. For this 2023, the Entity allocates an approximate investment of USD 6,900,000 to the Scholarship Program.
