Roger Federer writes a letter in which he lists his tennis priorities as Wimbledon looks disappointing. – In question

Roger Federer discussed his starring role in more detail after his retirement after penning a new open letter about his Roger Federer Foundation. The winner of 20 Grand Slams is set to join the BBC broadcast team at Wimbledon, but it looks like the tournament will be disappointed as it won’t focus on entertainment, at the expense of charity work.

Federer is yet to make a major career announcement after retiring in September. The 41-year-old spent two years battling a knee injury and underwent three operations before being forced to stop and dance for the final time in the Laver Cup.

Although the Swiss star has not confirmed a new role, he has reportedly been in talks with the BBC to take part in Wimbledon coverage. But Federer confirmed another commitment would take over, penning an open letter about continuing his work for the Roger Federer Foundation as it approaches its 20th anniversary.

“While I understand the concerns about adapting to this new pace, I can assure you that I am doing well and enjoying this new chapter in my life. I’ve been very busy healing my body and working on existing and new projects,” Federer wrote, updating his fans on his post-retirement duties.

He confirmed that his foundation will be his main focus in the future: “It goes without saying that my foundation will be at the top of my priorities. The Roger Federer Foundation, which I created with my parents in 2003, has become much bigger than what we had envisioned when I was playing. This year, the foundation will celebrate its 20th anniversary and I still remember the signing of the founding document.

In 2022, the Roger Federer Foundation invested 77.5 million Swiss francs to improve education in Switzerland and South Africa, the home country of Roger Federer’s mother. “I could never have imagined how rewarding, exciting and satisfying this journey would be, and all the great things we would accomplish together,” continued the 103-timer.

“At the end of the year, we were able to offer more than 2.4 million children better access to pre-school education, which I consider to be a great birthday present.” Federer said he would now focus on his role as a “philanthropist” after hanging up his racquet.

“I look forward to dedicating even more time to the foundation in the years to come, visiting more projects on site and deepening my knowledge of effective philanthropy,” he added. “I would be honored if you would continue to join me in my journey as a philanthropist. Your support is invaluable and motivating, and together we can achieve even greater things. I look forward to working with you and will always be grateful.”
