Ukraine will not agree to cede territories in exchange for peace, says Czech ambassador in Kyiv

Ukrainians are ready to continue fighting and are not ready to accept concessions, for example, in the form of exchanging part of their territory for peace. This was stated by the Czech ambassador to Ukraine in an interview with the ČTK news agency, published on Sunday. According to Radek Matula, after a year of suffering, horror, destruction, terror and human and material loss, compromises are unacceptable for Ukrainians.

While he admits that the latter are not optimistic about a quick end to the war, he adds, however, that the Russians have not managed to gather enough forces and equipment for a new major offensive. Radek Matula is not optimistic either: “Soldiers will continue to die at the front, civilians will continue to die because of barbaric attacks with missiles on civilian infrastructure, on houses”, he regrets in particular.

Still according to him, not even the possible capture of Bashmout by the Russian forces would constitute a turning point. “This conquest would be more important for Moscow on the propaganda level than on the strategic level”, he believes.
