Deputy Mayor Kathrin Gaál invites you to the exhibition #GemeinsamGegenGewalt

Frauenservice and the VHS offer easy-to-access information about the important topic of violence – from March 14 in Floridsdorf

The Vienna Women’s Service and the Viennese adult education centers have jointly designed an exhibition on violence against women on the occasion of the “16 days against violence against women”. The content is shown using a barrier-free exhibition module that was developed by Frauenservice Wien.

“Our task as the City of Vienna is to remove even more hurdles for the future. It is important to us to break down barriers and make more self-determination and participation possible. We do this, for example, with our own barrier-free exhibition module, which makes art and other content easily accessible for people with disabilities and health impairments. The women’s service module is currently being used for the first time with the low-barrier exhibition ‘GemeinsamGegenGewalt’ at the Viennese adult education centres,” says Deputy Mayor and Women’s City Councilor Kathrin Gaál.

“Education for all also means ensuring the most barrier-free access possible to what we have to offer. We are therefore very pleased to be able to provide low-threshold access to this important topic with the low-barrier exhibition ‘GemeinsamGegenGewalt”, says Herbert Schweiger, Managing Director of the Viennese adult education centres.

Exhibition #TogetherAgainstViolence

The exhibition, conceived together with the VHS, deals with various forms of violence, such as structural violence, domestic violence and violence on the Internet.

Facts are presented, options for action are shown and myths are debunked. The content is presented on an exhibition module that also enables low-barrier access for people in wheelchairs and for people with visual impairments. The mediated content, executed in Braille, Easy Reading and ÖGS (Austrian Sign Language), can be explored freely and without a specific order. The exhibition is touring through various Viennese adult education centers so that as many people as possible have access to the content.

Other dates on which the exhibition can be visited at the various locations are:

Ort: VHS Floridsdorf, 21., Angerer Strasse 14
