Dinesh Karthik recently opened up about the possibility of KL Rahul playing as India’s wicketkeeper should India qualify for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final.
During a discussion on Cricbuzz, Karthik said that Rahul does not like to keep wickets in Test matches. Karthik said that remaining a wicket-keeper in red-ball cricket is very difficult and it is not that easy.
Discussing Rahul’s prospects in the WTC final as a wicketkeeper, Dinesh Karthik explained: “K.L. Not one to enjoy keeping in Test cricket, he knows the difficulty of the job in Tests. Therefore he will not be ready. But there is no doubt that he is a good option.”
Notably, KL Rahul was left out of the playing eleven after a poor performance ahead of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, India may look to include him in the squad for the WTC finals in London given his excellent record in overseas conditions.
Rahul was outstanding in India’s 2021-22 tour of England, scoring 315 runs in four Tests, including a century and a half-century.
