‘Beforehand, we as the police said: we will look back with satisfaction if no one is injured and everyone goes home without violence. That happened, so I’m happy. Even though I regret that we had to use the water thrower’, police boss Paul van Musscher looks back on the demonstration on the Utrechtsebaan. ‘The mayor tolerated the demonstration for five hours. That’s really long. We opted for the least violent form, so there was fog and batons were not used. Anyone who nevertheless remained seated has been arrested.’
