ATP Indian Wells: Wawrinka franchit l’obstacle Kecmanovic

Despite the weight of the years, Stan Wawrinka (ATP 100) shows remarkable consistency. As in Marseille and Rotterdam, he was able to win his first two matches in Indian Wells.

The Vaudois, who turns 38 on March 28, qualified for the round of 16 of the first Masters 1000 of the year thanks to his 7-6 (10/8) 6-4 victory over Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic (31). Even if he had to dismiss 3 set points in the tie-break of the 1st set, Stan Wawrinka signed a success that does not suffer any discussion.

He was, in fact, the most enterprising, the most biting on the court. After keeping his cool in the tie-break, he forced the decision with a “white” break at 4-4 in the second set. With 30 points won out of the 34 played behind his first ball, he showed great control over his service games.

If he still evolves in this register, Stan Wawrinka can see far in this tournament of which he was the finalist in 2017 against Roger Federer. His next opponent on Monday will be the winner of the meeting between Paris-Bercy winner Holger Rune (8) and American Mackenzie McDonald (53).
