Feast of March 08, 2023: the president of the BL addresses women

Dear BL women

Dear women of Guinea and around the world,

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I would first like to wish you a very happy birthday. May 8 March 2023 be the occasion for a collective awareness of all Guineans and all Guinean women of all the evils from which Guinean women suffer: genital mutilation, domestic violence, rape, early marriage, under-representation in decision-making spheres, poverty, etc.

I would then like to take the opportunity to congratulate and encourage the facilitators of the inter-Guinean dialogue framework for their patriotism and their sense of duty. The success of this transition will depend, in part, on the ability of these brave women to make all the sons and daughters of Guinea think about the future of our country. I hope that the political and social actors become aware of their responsibility in the face of history and favor the higher interest of the people of Guinea by agreeing to be around the dialogue table the next time the need arises.

Finally, I call on the public authorities to do more for more equal opportunities between women and men in Guinea, for more protection of Guinean women against rape, which is commonplace in our society and against all forms of violence of which women are victims, and, finally, for more economic opportunities for Guinean women.
