BBL: Bonn simply cannot be stopped
The Telekom Baskets Bonn remain the team of the hour in the Basketball Bundesliga. The Rhinelanders celebrate their twelfth win in a row.
Thanks to their twelfth competitive win in a row, Telekom Baskets Bonn remain the team of the hour in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
The leader defeated the Würzburg Baskets 94:73 (54:45) on Saturday evening and maintained his lead over Alba Berlin. The Berliners had previously stopped their negative run after four bankruptcies with a 101:91 (50:49) against the Chemnitz 99ers.
In front of their home crowd, Bonn only fell a few seconds behind in the first quarter before the table leaders, led by playmaker TJ Shorts II (17 points), shot out an ultimately unchallenged victory. With a 21:2 balance, the Baskets are further ahead of Alba (19:2), who, however, played two games less.
The Albatrosses fought back against Chemnitz after an early deficit of 2:10. In a game that was tight for a long time, the Berliners pulled away decisively with a 16-0 run in the final section. 25 points from the strong Kevin Yebo were not enough for the courageous guests, while Alba’s Jaleen Smith (18) was the best thrower.
The Hamburg Towers lost 77:83 (34:44) to the MHP giants Ludwigsburg, while ratiopharm Ulm prevailed 94:79 (46:53) against the Fraport Skyliners, which was second to bottom in the table. The Syntainics MBC Weißenfels lost 95:99 (49:50) against the nine-time German champion Brose Bamberg.
