A new cooperation framework between Togo and the United Nations System

Togo and the United Nations System have just signed a new cooperation agreement. The document, signed by both parties on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, aims to ensure more inclusiveness in the various interventions of the United Nations System, in particular health, education, security, energy and the environment. .

The document will strengthen the actions of the 8 United Nations System agencies over the next 4 years in the country, in particular from 2023 to 2026. Their interventions will be more collective, coherent and integrated and with the government’s development priorities in line with the development objectives. durable. In fact, approximately 150 billion FCFA will be released for the various target sectors.

« Through this ceremony, all signatories accept the content of the cooperation framework and undertake to work together to achieve the expected results, namely the participation of vulnerable populations in the economy, access to rights and quality public services to all geographic bodies, more effective and inclusive governance for security and peace. said Aliou Mamadou Dia, UNDP Resident Representative in Togo.

The document, in fact, is the result of an intersectoral and intergenerational consultation initiated since 2021. According to Sandra Ablamba Ahoéfavi Johnson, Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, this cooperation framework will certainly contribute to the achievement of the ambitions of the government roadmap through three priorities.

It is about promoting more inclusive growth that generates jobs and builds resilience in a sustainable environment; support the raising of the level of development of human capital, the improvement of basic social services and social inclusion; and to consolidate social cohesion for the promotion of more inclusive, effective and accountable governance.
