The World Youth Forum organized an expanded workshop over two days, to discuss concepts of mental health, and how to support mental patients, with the participation of a large number of specialists, doctors and various Egyptian and international institutions, within the headquarters of the National Training Academy.
This comes in implementation of the initiatives launched by the platform of the World Youth Forum and the Youth of the Presidential Program, instead of organizing the forum in its usual form, so that the proceeds of the sponsorship rights directed to the forum are directed in favor of initiatives that have a direct impact in supporting youth.
On the first day, the workshop included three sessions. The first was an introductory session on mental health, correct and incorrect concepts alike, and how to deal with people with mental illness to return to normal life. The second session was about defining the scope of the World Youth Forum initiative for mental health and the mechanisms of action. and ways to implement them during the next stage, while the third session came to define the goals and results of the various initiatives that already exist in this regard.
The sessions were attended by Ambassador Nabila Makram, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fahem Foundation for Psychological Support, Dr. Sahar Ali, Executive Director of the Fahim Foundation for Psychological Support, Nasong Park, Dr. Ahmed Atwa, Assistant Minister of Health and Population at the International Organization for Migration, and Nancy Awni, Executive Director of Wellspring Foundation, in addition to a group of Presidential Youth Program.
At the beginning, a documentary film documenting the stages of preparation and organization of the previous four editions of the World Youth Forum was shown, and it reviewed the topics and axes discussed by the Forum over the previous editions, through many events, initiatives, panel discussions and workshops, to confirm that the Forum is in permanent session and that since its inception Its first edition was in 2017, and it is considered one of the most important communication platforms between all young people of different nationalities worldwide.
During the second day, the participants discussed during four sessions how to develop a road map for those concerned with mental health from governmental and private agencies and interests, civil society institutions and relevant ministries, so that all parties gather around one table to discuss issues and projects aimed at preserving and protecting mental health, as well as setting specific outputs and recommendations. Submit it to the concerned authorities, and allocate the necessary resources to implement the initiative.
The working groups decided to establish mechanisms to search for new and innovative solutions to support mental health, as well as unite efforts and maximize ways to benefit from state support for this file, provided that this is done in coordination with civil society organizations and the private sector, with the aim of supporting mental health and mental patients, and maximizing ways to benefit State support for this file, within the framework of presidential directives.
It is worth noting that since the launch of the forum in its first edition in 2017, and throughout the previous four editions, the forum aims to send a message of peace and prosperity from Egypt to the world, by discussing world issues, proposing recommendations and implementing many initiatives and projects on the ground. of the United Nations, the World Youth Forum in Egypt, as an international platform for discussing youth issues.
