Ash Rain Everywhere Scans Merapi Erupts Again

Mount Merapi in Central Java erupted this afternoon. During the eruption, Mount Merapi released hot clouds.

A number of points in Central Java were showered with ash rain. The Research and Development Center for Geological Disaster Technology (BPPTKG) reported that hot clouds were sliding towards Kali Bebeng or Krasak.

“There was an avalanche of hot clouds on Merapi on March 11 2023 at 12.12 WIB,” wrote the BPPTKG. detikJatengSaturday (11/3/2023).

The hot cloud slide is said to lead to Kali Bebeng or Krasak. Ash rain fell on the Selo District, Boyolali Regency.

From the monitoring of detikCentral Java, the eruption of Mount Merapi was clearly visible from the area of ​​Sruni Village, Musuk District, Boyolali. At 12.17 WIB, thick clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the peak of Merapi.

“That’s right, that’s APG (hot cloud avalanches). To the southwest,” said the official from the Mount Merapi Monitoring Post, Tri Mujiyanto, to detikJateng, Saturday (11/3/2023) afternoon.

The hot cloud avalanches from Mount Merapi attracted the attention of residents. Residents also perpetuate this phenomenon using their cellphone cameras.

Meanwhile, a number of villages in Selo District, Boyolali, are currently being showered with ash. The ash rain hit the Tlogolele, Jrakah and Klakah villages.

“It’s already raining ash, in the Stabelan area it’s relatively thin. It’s quite heavy in the lower areas,” said the Kadus Stabelan, Tlogolele Village, Maryanto, to detikJateng.

The head of Klakah village, Marwoto, also said that his entire village is currently being showered with volcanic ash from Merapi.

“Until now there is still ash rain. It has been evenly distributed, for the Klakah area everything is flat (ash rain) because the wind is heading northwest. The sky that was originally visible (clear) is now invisible,” said the Head of the Klakah Village, Marwoto, to detikJateng, at 12.54 WIB.

Monitoring by detikJateng at 13.15 WB, the eruption of Mount Merapi is still happening. The plume of smoke was still seen rising high and even looked bigger than an hour before.
