In Ulyanovsk, a man who threw a banana at a Zenit football player was detained
The incident occurred on February 25 in the match of the Cup of Russia “Volga” – “Zenith”. Almost two weeks later, the police detained a man born in 2004. He faces a fine of up to 10 thousand rubles.

Law enforcement agencies have detained a man who threw a banana towards a black player during the Fonbet-Russian Cup football match between Volga Ulyanovsk and Zenit. About it reported on the page in “VKontakte” of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.
“As a result of the measures taken, the police officers identified the offender and detained him. It turned out to be a resident of the regional center, born in 2004,” the report says.
Currently, police officers have drawn up an administrative protocol against him under Art. 20.31 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia (violation of the rules of conduct for spectators during official sports competitions), which will be sent to court for consideration on the merits.

According to the detainee, he saw Zenit fans throwing snowballs on the field, and out of emotion he also threw a foreign object. “They turned out to be a banana. Regret. At that moment I acted incorrectly, on emotions,” the detainee said.
For this offense he faces a fine of 3,000 to 10,000 rubles. or compulsory work for a period of up to 160 hours with the imposition of an administrative ban on visiting the venues of official sports competitions on the days of their holding for a period of six months to three years or without it.
The meeting of the first round of the lower bracket of the playoffs was held in Ulyanovsk on February 25 and ended with the victory of Zenit with a score of 3:0.
At the end of the match, a banana was thrown onto the field. This happened during the replacement of the Brazilian footballer Zenit Wendel. The Russian Premier League later condemned this racist incident.
The governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, called it a matter of honor for all law enforcement agencies and regional authorities to find the culprit in this incident.
