On Monday, March 13, Offenbach’s women will take to the streets at 5:30 p.m. Because there is still a lot to do when it comes to equality: women are still paid less, are threatened by violence and cannot freely decide about their bodies. “Women together for equal rights”, “Women’s rights are human rights” and of course “Women, life, freedom” – the women’s march makes women and their rights visible.
The march starts after the welcome by city councilor and chairwoman of the Equal Opportunities Commission Gertrud Marx, the head of the women’s office and other short speeches at around 5:55 p.m. on the south side of the town hall. From the Stadthof, the train moves along Frankfurter Strasse in the direction of Herrnstrasse, then turns onto Geleitsstrasse and from there continues in the direction of Kaiserstrasse. Before the participants move towards Berliner Straße, there is the vhs puzzle at the Frankfurter Straße intersection and the women of the DGB put up a banner that points out the wage gap. Then it’s around 6:15 p.m. The march then continues its route and turns right onto Berliner Strasse. After a pan across the market square, the marchers continue their way through the Salzgässchen, around 6.40 p.m. a second intermediate rally with song contributions is planned. Then continue in the direction of Ziegelstraße. The march ends around 7 p.m. in the KJK Sandgasse, where the women’s choir of the ASF awaits the marchers, there is the 2nd part of the vhs puzzle. Afterwards, DJ Jasmina Stille will ensure a moving conclusion.
