An attacker kidnapped two people in a pharmacy in the German city of Karlsruhe, near the border with France. The police stormed the pharmacy, and according to witnesses, explosions were heard.
The German police has cordoned off an area because of a hostage-taking situation in a pharmacy, the world agencies reported. Several streets in the city are blocked by police units.
The people living there they can’t go home at their homes because of this and were temporarily accommodated in a nearby school, the police explained. Authorities are urging everyone to avoid the area.
According to Bild, the tense situation began around 4:30 p.m. local time. The police were in contact with the person who took the hostages. Stuttgarter Zeitung reports that there were two hostages in the pharmacyand the person who held them demanded a ransom of several million euros.
The incident took place the day after fatal shooting against a religious site of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Hamburg.
