Kickers Offenbach is getting close to Ulm

22nd matchday in the Regionalliga Südwest: On Friday evening, Kickers Offenbach was able to shorten the deficit to Primus Ulm, at least temporarily, thanks to the 2-1 win against Freiberg. At the same time, FSV Frankfurt also celebrated a narrow victory in Walldorf.

Kickers Offenbach wants to increase the pressure on Primus Ulm on Friday evening.

Offenbach conquers Freiberg

Second game, second win. Kickers Offenbach got off to a good start in the spring round. On Friday evening, Ersan Parlatan’s team deservedly beat SGV Freiberg 2-1, albeit with great difficulty. The climber sold for a long time at the Bieberer Berg and made a dream start. Already in the 2nd minute of the game, Tomic thundered the ball from around 25 meters to the crossbar, Özkaya nodded the rebound into the net. In the style of a top team, the response from the hosts was not long in coming. Just a few pointer turns later, Moreno Giesel served Bozic, who was lurking in the middle, and who gave his team the equalizer with a diving header (6′). Even after the 1:1, the OFC pressed on the gas pedal, repeatedly putting the guests under pressure early on, but due to a lack of precision, repeatedly failed to play out really dangerous scenes in the goal area. So it was a test of patience that Offenbach had to master that evening. But after exactly one hour the time had come. After a short corner, Bozic was knocked off his feet in the penalty area, Jopek stepped up and converted safely (60′). With a narrow lead behind them, the OFC defended passionately, scored the full three points and thus kept up the pressure on league leaders SSV Ulm.

FSV Frankfurt celebrates late

In the second game on Friday, FC-Astoria Walldorf hosted FSV Frankfurt. Thanks to ten points from the last five games before the winter break, FC-Astoria had clearly distanced themselves from the danger zone. Tim Görner’s team went away empty-handed against FSV Frankfurt. A converted penalty kick from Carl to temporarily lead 1-0 after about an hour was ultimately not enough to bring Frankfurt to its knees. They fought back mercilessly in the closing stages and, thanks to goals from Müller (70′) and Weißmann (82′), finally let the pendulum swing in their favor shortly before the end.

Top game in Homburg

SSV Ulm is in action on Saturday. The league leaders unexpectedly lost their feathers in Worms last weekend and only managed a goalless draw against the newly promoted side. The competition is waiting for more slip-ups. TSG Hoffenheim II, who certainly still have potential after two draws against Stuttgart II and Kassel, travel to the Donaustadion on Saturday.

Also not an easy task awaits FC Homburg. The Wenzel-Elf beat Ahlen last Saturday, now TSG Balingen is waiting at home for the top game second against fourth. Balingen had to concede second place after the 0-0 in Fulda, but is now looking forward to the top game. “We want to play like we always do and be there when we get our chances,” Balingen coach Martin Braun told the “Schwarzwalder Bote”. Important is: “A good mix between offensive and stability.”

With TSV Steinbach Haiger, another club is hoping for the championship. The Biel team is currently eight points behind Ulm, but can theoretically reduce their lead to five points in the catch-up game against Bahlingen on Wednesday. Before that, the opponent on Saturday is called Wormatia Worms. And, as already mentioned, Peter Tretter’s team recently proved that they can trip others up against the leaders. In addition, the Wormsers are deep in the relegation battle, only two points separate the Nibelungenstadt from the ejection seats. Every point is worth its weight in gold.

The relegation battle is also the dominant topic in other places. But not in Kassel, where the crime thriller between the lions and VfR Aalen is cancelled.

More about the Regionalliga Südwest

SV Eintracht Trier parted ways with head coach Josef Cinar at the beginning of the week for fear of losing the connection to the non-relegation places completely at an early stage. With only 13 points, the SVE is already four behind the saving ranks that you definitely want to achieve. Those responsible no longer trusted Cinar to turn around. The new trainer is Andreas Zimmermann, who led the first trainer on Thursday.

The SG baroque town of Fulda-Lehnerz, meanwhile, has no worries about relegation. The Osthessen are guests on Saturday at Bahlinger SC, which is also in the secured midfield.

Accompanying the only Sunday game were again fears of relegation. Tail light RW Koblenz is doomed to win at VfB Stuttgart II given a six-point deficit.
