Libreville, Thursday, March 9, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The President of the Republic went today to the bedside of the injured and offered his condolences to the families of those who died following this tragedy that occurred last night off the Gabonese coast.
The Esther Miracle, a ship from the Royal Coast company, capsized last night off the Gabonese coast. According to a provisional report, two people lost their lives and about twenty others are missing. Following this tragedy, the Head of State went to the bedside of the survivors and offered his most saddened condolences to the families of the deceased. “I went to the bedside of the survivors of the sinking of the Esther Miracle off the coast of Gabon tonight to express my compassion and support. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. Without the courage, responsiveness and efficiency of the emergency services, the results of this tragedy would have been more appalling. They have all my gratitude and appreciation,” wrote Ali Bongo Ondimba. The vessel in question was traveling Libreville -Port-Gentil.
During a communication to the press, the Minister Delegate for Transport wanted to reassure public opinion. “An investigation has been opened by the competent services to determine the causes of this tragedy. The public prosecutor was also seized”, underlined Joël Bekale. The member of the government also indicated that a regular point of information will be made according to the evolution of the situation. A shipwreck more and less than a month off the Gabonese coast after that of a vessel flying the Cameroonian flag from Togo on February 15.
