More than four years ago, the former program director of RTL started working as a part-time advisor at Talpa Network.
“Help build the channels and own formats with a team and also create brands was not only a great new challenge and great fun, but also turned out to be more labor intensive than previously estimated,” says 55-year-old Galjaard. According to him, “the agreed three days soon became five or sometimes even more”.
“Logically too, because there was and is work to be done. That meant that there was little time left for the other projects that I have set up in recent years in addition to my advisory role at Talpa Network.” He is involved in music projects, events and start-ups.
“Now that the merger does not go ahead, the work will not become less. I believe that now is the time to devote more attention and time to those projects that I also enjoy and feel more as an independent entrepreneur and consultant. development,” he concludes.
Talpa says he is grateful to Galjaard for “his unremitting efforts”. “There are few people in our field who master building a broadcast schedule as he does,” says Talpa boss John de Mol. “I understand his desire to do business like no other. If he wants to take such a step again, now is the time. I wish him every success in that.”
Galjaard switched to Talpa in February 2019. That was almost a year after he left RTL after 21 years of employment.
