According to the OMT, corona has reached an endemic phase in our country. The disease can now be treated in the same way as flu, for example. That is why the corona measures can also be adjusted, the experts advised.
“Fortunately, almost every Dutch person has some form of immune system, so we can regard the corona virus as a normal respiratory virus,” it quotes. AD Minister Ernst Kuipers (Public Health) today after the Council of Ministers.
Until now, people still had to get tested if they had complaints. If this test came back positive, you had to go into isolation. The cabinet is now drawing a line through that.
Also, no new vaccination round will be organized in the spring. People with a high medical risk can still get a repeat injection and must be referred for this. Furthermore, the basic series and the repeat injection will remain available to anyone over the age of twelve who has not yet passed these injections.
GGD test lanes are closing
As a result of the decision, the GGD test lanes will also close. Those who want to undergo a confirmatory test for a proof of recovery can still contact the GGDs until 17 March.
Furthermore, healthcare workers no longer have to wear a mouth-nose mask when they come within 1.5 meters of a patient.

End after three years of corona measures
The news brings an end to roughly three years of corona measures. The first hygiene measures were announced on March 9, 2020, such as washing hands more often and only using paper handkerchiefs. This was followed by lockdowns, a curfew and numerous other measures.
“With the abolition of the latest corona advice, we are leaving a special period behind us, a period that we will not soon forget. We should not, because the corona virus is still there and will remain,” emphasizes Minister Kuipers.
He advises everyone to use their common sense when dealing with flu and cold complaints. The minister is referring to advice such as washing hands, sneezing and coughing into the elbow and sufficient ventilation in indoor areas.
