The emergency services have responded to a fire in a block of flats in Porsgrunn on Friday morning. The fire service is searching the apartments that have burned.
The police inform NTB that seven people have been registered in the staircase where the fire took place.
– It has been reported just now that the fire service is inside the apartment in question and has extinguished the fire there. They are on their way to the attic to further put out the fire, says operations manager Roger Aaser in the South-East police to NTB.
He says that the police do not think there is anyone in the flat, but that it and other flats in the hallway will be searched. A woman who lives in the apartment that was hit the hardest is taken care of by an ambulance at the scene.
The Sørøst 110 central informs The online newspaper that there is a fire on the top floor of a block of flats, and that flames have been observed coming out of the windows.
– The reports from the fire service at the scene are that there was a full fire on the top floors, says duty manager Arild Reinhartsen at the 110 central to NTB.
The police inform Nettavisen that they received a report that someone shouted from a veranda, and that smoke was coming from the apartment.
– We have pressed the big button, but we can hope this is not serious, says Aaser.
