US President Joe Biden will travel to Canada on March 23-24 to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and address the Canadian Parliament, the White House announced Thursday.
During his visit to Ottawa, Mr. Biden will discuss with Mr. Trudeau the war between Russia and Ukraine, defense cooperation, climate change and the opioid crisis, said the secretary of the White House press, Karine Jean-Pierre, in a press release.
MM. Biden and Trudeau “will discuss ongoing efforts to support Ukraine, to increase costs for Russia and those who support its war effort, and to counter the negative impacts of war on the rest of the world,” Ms. Jean Pierre.
Trudeau welcomed the news of the visit, which will be Biden’s first since assuming the presidency.
“Keeping North Americans safe from new and emerging threats requires a coordinated response,” he said in a statement, which also said leaders will highlight ongoing continental defense efforts and advance the Arctic cooperation.
