Donnarumma Makes Fun After PSG Failed, But Glad Milan Escaped

Munich

Gianluigi Donnarumma booed after Paris Saint Germain eliminated by Bayern Munich. However, he admits he is happy because his former club, AC Milanget away.

PSG were knocked out in the round of 16 Liga Champions with an aggregate 0-3 after surrendering to Bayern 0-2 at the Allianz Arena, Thursday (9/3) WIB. Donnarumma was unable to stem Bayern’s goals scored by Eric Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry.

In other matches, Milan drew 0-0 at Tottenham Hotspur headquarters. This result was enough to get the Rossoneri into the quarterfinals with an aggregate advantage of 1-0.

The contrast made Donnarumma an easy target for ridicule Milan fans. In the summer of 2021 the Italian goalkeeper chose to leave San Siro to join PSG because they think Milan is less ambitious.

However, it is undeniable that Milan would be more successful without Donnarumma by grabbing the 2021/2022 Scudetto and advancing to the last eight of the Champions League for the first time since 2012. Meanwhile, PSG has not been able to meet the target of winning the most elite competition and even been knocked out in the last 16 for the second time in a row.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is still under contract with PSG until 2026. The 2020 European Cup winner emphasized that he has no regrets about his choice to move to Paris.

“I’m proud to be part of this club, I never doubted,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I’m happy here.”

“It’s a shame that the Champions League depends on details. If you make a mistake you concede. We need to be more focused. We have to keep our heads up anyway. I’m happy for my former team-mates. It’s a shame we didn’t qualify so there’s big disappointment,” he added Donnarumma.
