Nintendo promised, and as part of their Mario Day celebration (March 10th), they had a Nintendo Direct short where they presented what will be our last look at a Super Mario Bros. movie. You can check out the trailer below:
As part of a presentation before the trailer, Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto himself, as well as several main cast members, Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong), Charlie Day (Luigi), Keegan-Michael Kay (Toad), and Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), and Jack Black (Runner) were on hand to introduce the trailer.
Trailer highlights include Luigi sharing a cell with the penguins we met in the first trailer, as well as Lomas wonderfully warning that “the only hope is a gentle release from death.” We also get other glimpses of parts of the Mushroom Kingdom, some of Bowser’s army (although King Koopa himself doesn’t know his forces very well), and the appearance of Donkey Kong using his Fire Mario powers. The trailer ends with a great action sequence on Rainbow Road, which promises to be an important part of the movie.

As part of the festivities, Shigeru Miyamoto announced that in addition to ticket sales and localizations that have already begun in some countries, there will be another special feature in the United States. A replica of the Super Mario shoes will be on display at Nintendo New York, the Japanese company’s official store, starting tomorrow, March 10th.
A few days ago, it was announced that the Super Mario Bros. movie will be released a few days earlier than planned. It will now launch in the US and other regions such as Latin America and Europe on April 5, 2023. Japan will have a later release on April 27, 2023.
