The head of the Military District – Stara Zagora, Colonel Ludmil Marinov, confirmed that the notice from the photo on social networks is a real, genuine document
In a post with a photo on Facebook, which has received hundreds of comments and shares, it is written that “the preparation of cannon fodder is beginning”, suggesting the mobilization of the Bulgarian Army and the possible use of the mobilized for foreign interests, writes BNR.
The photo in the post shows a notice to appear until 25.01.2023 at the military report office at the Municipality of Stara Zagora to receive a call-up order.
The notice has no addressee, but there is a signature of a person whom the text says is the civilian employee Zarko Shishmanov – an expert in the office for military reporting.
Comments under the post understand the message in it as the beginning of mobilization for civilians in the army of the Republic of Bulgaria in connection with the complex foreign policy situation.
The post generated many provocative comments.
The public media is verifying the notice in question by contacting the head of the Military District – Stara Zagora, Colonel Ludmil Marinov.
He confirmed that the notification from the photo on social networks is a real, genuine document issued by a military report office in the Stara Zagora Municipality, with which the reservists are called to serve a call-up order.
Col. Marinov explained that when the reservist appears at the military report office, he will be explained the reason for serving the call-up order, in which case he can be called up for execution, as well as the duties arising from the order.
However, the notice is not a call-up order, nor a mobilization, but part of a routine procedure for replenishing the reserve force.
“These are routine activities in which the spares, equipment-reserve, reserve, etc. are replaced. I want to clarify again – it is not a matter of reserve mobilization, these are routine actions that are carried out to replace the composition…”
“We are replacing the people – the so-called reservists, who will actually fulfill their duties during mobilization, during war,” said Colonel Marinov.
He emphasized that if there are any tasks in the order, they are not outside the territory of Bulgaria.
The head of Military District – Stara Zagora explained that as of January 25, 2023, no general or partial mobilization has been announced for the Bulgarian Army.
“We do not have such tasks – to carry out mobilization, at the moment.”
A check in the Defense and Armed Forces Act of the Republic of Bulgaria shows that general or partial mobilization can only be announced by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, which is not a fact as of 25.01.2023.
Conclusion
The claim that the preparation of cannon fodder is beginning, suggesting a mobilization for the Bulgarian Army is FALSE, emphasized by BNR.
The photograph showing a notice to report to a military report office at the Stara Zagora Municipality is not forged, but the document is part of a routine procedure for replacement of reserve personnel, not regular personnel of the Bulgarian Army.
