The settlement has been published in a discussion thread in the closed Facebook group “Social Democrats”.
Dagbladet has gained access to the post, where party slugger Thorbjørn Berntsen asks the party to replace Jonas Gahr Støre as party leader.
– The current leader of the party has the main responsibility for us being where we are in the opinion polls, writes Berntsen.
Don’t be mad, old man
He elaborates on the plot to Dagbladet.
– The Labor Party cannot do like the ostrich, burying its head in the sand. It is uncomfortable to discuss such things in full public view, but we must take action if we are to avoid election defeat in 2025, says Berntsen to Dagbladet.
– Have you become a grumpy old man who thinks everything was better before?
– Trygve Bratteli was confronted with that claim there and asked what he thought would be his afterword. Then Bratteli replied “To the extent that it can harm my successor, my reputation will be good”, says Berntsen, laughing.
Furious at Tajik games
Crisis measurements
Yesterday, the Labor Party got yet another disaster poll in its lap: 15.5 percent of those questioned say they vote Ap. Right, on the other hand, clocked in at a symbolic 36.9.
Earlier this week, Oslo Ap opened to replace the entire Ap management except Big.
– It’s not so strange when he (Støre, journ.anm.) is the first person on the list for the Oslo Labor Party, comments Berntsen in the Facebook post.
Wrecked by tops
– Shoot the pianist
The former environmental protection minister does not understand why the county team wants to stop at the party leader.
– It will be like shooting the pianist and leaving the conductor behind. It will not be good to be a conductor when the orchestra is gone, writes Berntsen, and adds:
– There are many indications that the orchestra should get a new conductor.
Jonas Gahr Støre does not wish to comment on the matter.
Unexpected gift: – Gossip
Power struggle
Thorbjørn Berntsen is thus the first Ap profile to openly believe that the party must assess Jonas Gahr Støre’s position as party leader.
The county teams in the party have a deadline this week to give the election committee their recommendation. Later this spring, the electoral committee will present its recommendation to the national meeting, which ultimately elects the party leadership.
One of the positions as deputy leader has been open since Hadia Tajik stepped down as deputy leader last year following the commuter housing scandal and Dagbladet’s revelation that she owned and rented out apartments while living in commuter housing funded by taxpayers.
The debate about the position of deputy leader in the Labor Party has raged in recent weeks after Hadia Tajik was surprisingly launched as a challenger to the favorite Tonje Brenna.
Internal washing
Hadia no chance
This week it has become clear that Brenna is supported by a clear majority of the county teams. Only Rogaland has so far given its support to Tajik, but even there opinions were divided.
Dagbladet’s source information close to the election committee made it clear early on that Tajik was not wanted as the new deputy leader of the party. Her chances are thus absolutely minimal.
According to Dagbladet’s information, she is also not a candidate for a position in the central government. There, the election committee would rather go for Stavanger mayor Kari Nessa Nordtun (Ap).
Feel sorry for Jonas
Thorbjørn Berntsen says he thinks it’s a shame that he now has to ask Støre to leave.
– I think it’s a real shame. I have a lot of sympathy for Jonas, he is skilled, likeable and stands his ground. Travels around and visits nurseries, industrial companies and Samiland, but it doesn’t pay off. He doesn’t front politics properly and needs to be more forceful, says Berntsen to Dagbladet.
– I have a lot of nice things to say about Tonje Brenna. She is likable, very clever and she is well liked. The last one has a lot to say. She is a person with what we call a voter’s hat, he continues.
– Støre hasn’t?
– It is under Jonas that we have ended up in the 14s for individual measurements and down in the 18s for the average of the measurements. This is happening under Støre’s leadership, it is he who has fronted the policy – no one else.
Berntsen mentions, among other things, Støre’s plot about the flight to Switzerland as one example where he believes the prime minister is unclear.
– He was asked about all these billionaires who have donned the Tyrolean hat and moved to Switzerland. What does he think about it? If someone had asked me, they would have been given a flushing bucket that you couldn’t pressurize. Jonas said it was inappropriate. That is not enough, says Berntsen.
